Submission Guidelines

Open Art Prize 2025

1. Eligibility

  • Open to artists of all career stages (emerging, mid-career, established).

  • Artists working in any visual art medium or genre including, but not limited to, photography, painting, sculpture, installation, digital art, video, performance, and mixed media.

  • Open internationally—artists from all countries are welcome to apply.

  • Artists may submit solo works or a series of related works (subject to file size limits and investment).

2. Entry Requirements

  • Submit up to 12 artworks per artist.  *fees apply

  • Each artwork should be clearly titled and dated.

  • Provide an artist statement (max 300 words) outlining your practice and the work submitted.

  • Include a brief CV or biography (max 1 page).

  • All submissions must be the original work of the submitting artist and not previously exhibited through Cylindergallery.

3. File Formats & Technical Specifications

  • Images: JPEG or PNG, minimum resolution 1920 px on the longest side, maximum file size 5MB per image.

  • Videos (if applicable): MP4 format, maximum duration 3 minutes.

  • Documentation for performance or installation may be submitted as video or photo series.

  • All files must be correctly labelled with the artist’s name and artwork title.

4. Submission Process

  • Entries must be submitted via our official online platform: 

  • Complete the submission form, upload images/files, and provide all requested supporting documents.

  • Entry fee: 1-3 images - £25, 4-6 images - £45, 7-12 images - £75.  *Payment is required at the time of submission.

5. Judging Criteria

  • Originality and innovation.

  • Artistic vision and conceptual strength.

  • Technical skill and execution.

  • Relevance and impact within contemporary visual arts.

  • Potential for audience engagement and exhibition adaptability.

6. Selection Process

  • Submissions will be reviewed by Cylindergallery’s curatorial team.

  • longlist will be announced 1 Oct 2025

  • From the longlist, a shortlist of finalists will be selected to participate in the 3D immersive showcase and catalogue.

  • Winner Solo Show will launch in November where the Final winners will be announced at the Awards Ceremony Private View.

7. Rights and Usage

  • By submitting, artists grant Cylindergallery permission to use images of submitted artworks for promotional, educational, and archival purposes related to the prize.

  • Artists retain full ownership of their work.

8. Important Dates

  • Submission opens: 11 August 2025

  • Submission deadline: 11 September 2025

  • Finalists announced: 1 October 2025

  • Exhibition & Awards Ceremony: 11 November 2025
